MRCP — coming to AMaC

AMaC is building for MRCP, and it will be built the way everything here is built: around the exam room, not around the syllabus.

There is no shortage of MRCP question banks. Thousands of stems, thousands of explanations, and candidates who still walk out of PACES unsure why they lost the marks. That gap is what AMaC works on. The material will start from the examiner’s side of the table — what is actually being scored, what quietly fails a competent doctor, and what separates a borderline performance from a clear one.

For the written papers that means reasoning you can reconstruct under time pressure, not answers you have memorised. For PACES it means the spoken performance itself: how you structure what you say, how you recover when an encounter goes wrong, and how you sound to someone marking you.

MRCP Part 1
The first written hurdle. The intention is to train the reasoning path rather than the recall — why a tempting option is wrong, and what makes the correct one correct under time pressure.

The second written paper. The intention is to work through clinical decision-making the way a physician sequences it: what you do next, and why that rather than the alternative.

PACES
The clinical examination, and the closest fit to work AMaC already does — spoken performance, examiner reasoning, and recovering an encounter that has gone wrong. Format details will be confirmed against the Federation’s published specification before any material is written.
