Who we are independent of, how our material is written and reviewed, and what our teaching frameworks do and do not claim to be.
AMaC is independent of the GMC, the MLA, and all Royal Colleges. We have no formal affiliation, partnership, or licensing relationship with any examining body. Our materials are prepared independently, based on publicly available exam formats and structures — not on official mark schemes or internal examiner materials, which are not published.
Every station, card and question is written by clinicians and reviewed by clinicians before publication. Our content is not derived from candidates’ real exam experiences or leaked exam material — it is built from first principles: what a safe, structured, patient-centred consultation looks like, and what commonly causes candidates to lose marks.
Exam formats and expectations change over time. We aim to review our material regularly to keep it aligned with current practice, and will note here if anything has changed materially since a chapter or tool was last updated.
Structures like our Fail / Safe Pass / Distinction levels, and our Structure Framework, are AMaC’s own teaching tools — not official marking schemes. They’re designed to help you meet the kind of criteria examiners are known to look for: safety, structure, communication and patient-centred reasoning. They are not a substitute for your medical school or programme’s own guidance, and they don’t claim to represent any examining body’s internal mark scheme, which isn’t publicly published.
